signal lights

ok so im here at the dealership becuse all of a sudden i had the pass. side light stop working but yet it wasnt blown .... so i take it out of the socket and take a look at the base and what do i see .... one of the prongs are melted !!!! so i look inside of the holder and what the hell ..... its melted also !!! ..... so i took it in and had them look at it and they just told me that the bulbs that i have been useing for so long now (silver star) have been causeing too much heat (their guess) and caused the socket to melt ... so they have ordered TWO (yes two because the other side was also melting but did not melt the bulb yet) sockets and will be installed when they get in ... they also put two new stock bulbs in and their working fine right now ......

SO ..... what the hell i know there are quite a few people on here that are running these bulbs ..... anyone else have this problem???????

thank god for the warranty

Lucky SOB, no reason to cover that under warranty. That's why you must be nice to people at the dealerships. They are doing you a favor here when they don't have to. I do this kind of crap all the time. Makes for loyal, happy customers.

I've had some issues w/ mine blowing or stop working at random. I never thought to check the sockets though.

I'll do that when it's not a million degrees outside and let you know.

rlinbatonrouge is right, didn't need to be covered under warranty at all...my friend had bulbs like these on his Sunfire GT, ended up actually shorting out the whole system and had to buy whole new headlights just because the cars weren't really designed for them., at least back then. But I think it is kind of the same way now, I don't think Xenon bulbs really cost $300 and I think that is close to some car companies' options charge so it seems like something else is upgraded other than bulbs.
