Intercooler wired wrong??

Ok, I've heard about this off and on, but really have'nt given it much thought. What's the deal with the intercooler being wired wrong? 1. I must be stupid b/c I did'nt think intercoolers had wiring. And 2. What's wrong with it? I have an 04' with about 19k on it and I've had it for about 2 years. The only thing I've had done is the reflashes shortly after I got it and the camshaft position sensor seal recall thing. Since that I've not had a problem with the car! If you guys have any insight that might enlighten me as to the workings of an intercooler, please help a brutha out!

There is an electric pump that moves the fluid through our intercooler system (technically it's an aftercooler). On some cars, the ground and power wires are reversed causing the pump to turn backwards. The fins on the pump are directional so when it's spinning backward it's not moving the fluid properly thus causing your IAT2 temps to be higher than they should.

there is a bunch of threads on here about this problem. give intercooler a search....You can see the fluid flowing in the filler neck if its working right...I have an 04 as well...Mine was wired wrong and i cut the wires and switched them...IT still wasnt working and i took the pump off and found that if you push on the corner of it on the side the wires are connected it works fine...there is a video of it in the media section...Anyways i just made a little bracket to hold that spot and now i can see the flow in the neck also the temp gauge dropped a smidge after it started working

What were the benifits after you fixed it? Also, could'nt I just take it to the dealer? I don't really like the idea of other hands on my baby, but since I don't know jack about Intercoolers/Aftercoolers, I'd prefer to do it that way!

Yes you can take it to the dealer, there is a TSB for it.

Getting it fixed will allow your intercooler coolant to flow properly keeping your intake temp's proper. With minimal coolant flow the cooling capibilities of it are not up to par.

And who says I am not helpful...lol

The benefits are piece of mind that my IAT2's are not outrageously high. I dont have a gauge for those numbers but i know they were hott. I would assume now they are lower that i can see the fluid flowing pretty good in there. The colder the air your car is getting the more horsepower ur making and i think it reduces knock and shit like that.....

The benefit is power. That's what the intercooler is there for. If it's not cooling the intake air, it's just extra weight.
