water running down onto K&N filter??????

who was it that had this problem and what did you do about it? i cant find that shit using "search."

i finally got around to installing my K&N yesterday after it sat in my living room for a few months. after the install i remembered the pics sombody posted where you could look through that little whole between the cross brace and the fender, and see the filter chillin there! so i checked mine and sure enough there it is, and there is a fucking tropical storm about to make its way throgh here!

unless there is some way to ajust it and move it, i am either gonna have to fill that whole(possibly with a piece of the liner that had to be cut away), or i thought maybe i could add a short piece of piping to the intake to move it a couple inches back and out of the way?

anybody have any ideas?

I have all the dimensions of the filter itself. I plan on making a template that anyone can print out and trace onto some sheet metal and cut with tin snips to make a shield. I was going to do it yesterday, but got caught up in some tuning.

I plan in making it held by a hose clamp, or even a rubber band it it goes the way it should, making installation a breaze.

I am going to make a TERRIBLE sketch to show ya, but I am at work, and paint is all I have.. bear with me, 3D renderings will be here tonight if I get time!

good idea.

but i was just out in the parking lot at work looking at it, and i have an idea of what i am going to do as a more immediate fix. i am going to take a piece of teh plastic that had to be cut away for intake clearence, and use my dremmal to cut it to fit the whole, and then epoxy that bitch in there. then i am going to take an additional piece of plastic, and make sort of little water-dam just before the hole, and use the dremml to punch a hole in the lip(engine compartment) just before the dam to allow the water to run out. so this way the water should never make it to the hole, and if it does it will be sealed anyway.

The only thing I have against that is that all 3 sides of that lieelt 'triangle' hole are a different piece, meaning if you epoxy it, you can't take the poart apart again! (which includes taking off the fender I think)

I don't see why not. I'll do a 3D model when I get home, and mock it up out of sheet metal maybe today, but most likly later this week
