Angry F'n stock clutch

My dealer already replaced the clutch, and all it's peices at 3000K because it was slipping when shifting under power. I've since put another 2000k on it and it is starting to slip again.

So yesterday I'm driving home late from work and come up on this GT mustangdown shift and give it a little goose at about 40. we even out and go for it. I outpulled him all the way to the next stop light about 1/2 mile away. We both catch the red light and are ready to go on green. I got a decent pull but during the 1-2 shift the clutch totaly f'ed me. The tach read 7K with the clutch out (I'm in second) and me going no where (I though I missed a shift it spun up so fast!!) the stang pulled the crap out of me. Cought back up to him and did a nother 40mph pull and handed him his a$$ again. I guess it counts as a kill but the clutch is really pissing me off.

Looks like it's time for a better clutch

I noticed it slipping again a few weeks ago and was going to wait to add the 2.79 pulley and colder plugs I had on the bench. Because I knew it would slip worse as I add more HP but I had some time to kill saturday and couldn't resist any longer and put them in.

I guess it was my fault the clutch was slipping so bad??

A LRN2Drive mod will certainly help your slipping clutch, but it won't cure it. The stock clutches don't handle much abuse.

Why is it every time a clutch problem is posted there's always some smart a$$ has to pipe in and say something about learning to drive? I'm looking for help, direction, reason or something that might be causing my problem.

I drive hard and aggresive but I don't abuse the clutch. Theres about a 10 mile twistie I drive through every day on my way to and from work. Maybe that is what's doing it. I use the motor to slow down as well as the brakes. Just for the record I have driven every thing from farm tractors, crotch rockets, and raced supermotard, motorcross, supercross, kart, BMX and may others. I've been racing in one form or another for mosat of those 30 years

jays just givin ya a hard time man take it easy. anyway, you should look into an aftermarket clutch. there are some who have not had any trouble witht he stock clutch but theres alot of us who have. so id say its time to throw a stiffer one in there. if you got the extra cash might as well throw a lighter fly wheel in there too, it saves on gas.

I realized jay was giving me a hard time I was just giving it back. No Worries.

IF I'm going in to the clutch I will definatly go lighter. On another subject my mileage went up from 22 mpg to 25 mpg after installing the 2.8 pully and colder plugs. Does this sound right or lean?

Fun fact I just built a 600cc hill climb bike for a customer that puts out 74 hp out of a asporated engine on a 245lb bike that equats to 3.8lbs per HP.

what injectors are you running if your running the 42's or the stage injectors i highly doubt your running lean, you might even be running rich, hows the plugs look pull yhem and check em out. or look at the exhaust tip is it black or kinda a light black or white color.if you have the 60's and the 2.8 i know your not running lean that would be definatly a rich senario there unless you have altered the MAF output or something.

I am talking with a racing company associated with cottermans transmission and they will be building me a custom clutch and pressure plate with my mod's and the addition of nitrous to come the only thing that will hold up for any continuous abuse is a ceramic clutch they have agreed to build me a carbon kevlar clutch but you have to run the aluminium flywheel because it will eat the stock flywheel for lunch, with my nitrous add they won't guarrentee anything but ceramic but don't recomend ceramic for a everyday driver

I thought I had that mod down until I drove a Saab. These clutches just don't have a lot of clamping force.
