HELP!! Parking brake alert won't go off

I installed my ladder tach today with amishland's harness. Everything works fine, only took me about an hour and a half. . .anyways, when I turned on the car, everthing was fine. Except. . .

When I started to drive to work, I put my parking brake down, and the light stayed on. And when I started drving that annoying little "bing bing" noise that goes off when the headlights are on when you open the door and when you start driving with the parking brake up went off. And won't turn off.

I CANNOT drive like this, it could quite possibly be the most annoying thing I have encountered in working on a car.

. . .this is why I don't mess with wires. lol Any help guys???

uh, make sure the brake really is all the way down, one or 2 clicks up from all the way down will get you 'the noise'...if thats not the fix, then you got serious prolems, mang...

No, the parking brake is definately all the way down. I tryed several times with the brake itself.

Ugh! This is no good.

Pull the little holder out behind the e brake (where the armerst would be) and disconect the wires till you figure out what the real problem is.

If there are even wireres there, who has installed a DVD player? It has been so longs since i jacked with mine.

I'm curious though, I I were to dis connect the wires back there, would that disconnect my e-brake????? Cause that would be bad.

At first I was thinking that I may have bumped the wire going to the in-dash DVD, but i'm not sure why it would stay on all the time.

No the wire just tells the light to go on and that annoying ringing noise you are hearing. The e-brake itself is just a cable. No worries about that.

It might not even work, it might need to be at ground potential or what have you (basically taking it off would have the same affect as pulling the e-brake, try touching it to metal if that is the case)

Thats not a bad idea. I'll try it tomorrow morning, maybe on my dinner break. How does the "armrest" part come off?

If you have the armerst you have 2 screws on eitgher side (of course it is put on after you bought it) If not then i think you just tug and it pops off, the dish part, then the plastic under the ebrake handle comes out with it, all one piece, I know what you mean about the ringing though man that is annoying.
No screws with the stock dish as far as i know.
