Aftermarket Clutch requirements...

For those of you interested in using aftermarket clutches on your Redline, there are a few things that you will need to know to save yourself some trouble.

1 - Make sure that the flywheel is ground flat, and most importantly, that the step measurement is at .305" (stock is .305") Any wear or an off measure step could result in clutch operation problems, and or clutch failure.

2 - Make sure that the throwout is fairly new. The MU3 tranny uses a hydraulic throwout assembly and that part is a normal wear and tear item.

3 - Make sure that you know how to properly bleed the slave system. If you are having problems with clutch pedal feel, an improper bleed is the likely cause.

Best bet for anyone looking for a clutch is to get a new flywheel and throwout with their clutch, and bleed the system thoroughly. Use a suction or a pressurized bleeder if possible.

I hope this helps someone out there.

beat me to it, Jay...

Out of curiousity, for those using a Fidanza flywheel or otherwise, what are the step measurements? (Has anyone WITH a new aftermarket flywheel AND a CM clutch experienced any issues?)
