I thought I blew up the motor today

I had just left my apt complex about 10 minutes ago and I was accelerating pretty hard, but not too bad, and I heard an big explosion followed by a continous bang-bang-bang coming from my engine. I popped it out of gear and coasted back into my apartment complex (a different entrence) and just parked the car and shut it off.

I opened the hood and smelled a really nasty smell. Bad news number 1. I checked under my car and there were no fluids leaking. Good news number 1. So then I decided to crank the engine. My thinking was that if a valve/piston/ring was blown, my boost gauge would be bouncing becuase it wouldn't be able to maintain vaccuum. It cranked easily, and the boost gauge settled in right at -16 right where it should. Good news number 2. I noticed that my wideband was reading --- which means too much oxygen. So I turned the car off and looked back at my header, and I blew out my narrowband O2 sensor.

I laughed, I was so releaved that it wasn't anything really bad. It was too hot down there to see if the threads are blown out or if it just loosend up. But I don't really care. If I need to move my narrowband O2 to just after my flex pipe and plug the hole, that is fine. So I guess it is back to driving the beater, a 1991 ford explorer sport.

LOL Try blowing a huge intercooler pipe at 27 psi. Happened to me a few times and lets say it goes out with a bang. You think your engine died everytime especially since you feel like you lost 80% of your power and you almost hit your head on the steering.

What did you have at 27psi?

I have been in a skittle that tore the silcone hose coupler at about 15 psi, the car make a funny sound and my head almost hit the dash, but it wasn't as loud as this.

It was a hard pipe Jb welded. Very gettho setup on a Dodge turbo. I also popped intercooler tubes wide open. Makes a huge noise because they balloon quite a bit.
