Techncially there are 4 coil driver modules (coil on plug) driven by 4 independant control triggers directly from the PCM. So the "ignition module" in the traditional sense is the PCM.

AFAIK that isn't possible. PASS KEY will probably shit a brick.

Then again, maybe all the ion key cylinders are coded the same, I don't know. But if they were I could just take a cylinder that I have a key for and hotwire peoples cars.

Oh THAT ignition, I thought you meant "spark" LOL
The 03-07 Saturn ION doesnt use Passkey it uses Passlock (the 06 Cobalt switched to PassKEY though)
So all it's really looking for is the rotation of the ign cylinder, the key itself doesnt really matter. There is no module for the system it's all built into the BCM so the various IGN SW signals are all sent to the BCM and it regulates the security. What does the car do as the IGN is switched from OFF>RUN>CRANK? Anything? Is the "Security" lamp on the IP truning ON or Flashing??

I have power to everything when in the run position, but there is nothing in the crank position. But I hear some relays clicking when we go int the crank position.
I did not notice the security lamp coming on either. I hooked the interceptor up and there are no codes.
