Arrow Terrible spoiler noise???

i have a 2004 RL with the smaller spoiler i belive it is the aero wing it smaller and looks in my opinion looks alot better then the flying nun version. regardless i took my car through one of those autmatic car washes and when i got to the fans at the end the spoiler i belive sounded like it was going to rattle the car to pieces. so i said whatever and it hasnt made the noise again till today when i was driving home it was windy and i was driving between 80-90 the whole way home and it would randomly make the same noise. it seem to come and go as it pleased. anyone who knows anything about this noise or what i can do to remedy it would be great. thanks !

Check the nuts under the decklid that fasten it and make sure they're tight. Not sure, but it's a 99% chance it might be a 10mm. If that fails, take it to the dealership.

First of, you actually have the normal spoiler. The aerowing is the larger more sport oriented version.

Secondly, the spoiler is actually doing its job, kinda. I've had it happen on my QC. What is happening is that there is so much air moving across it that the spoiler is pressing itself down to the trunk surface. Once that happens there isn't enough air flowing across the spoiler for it to hold that position, so it naturally rebounds to it its norm. Then all over again. REALLY REALLY fast. Sound horrible but thats what its doing. There isn't really anyway to fix it either without reenforcing it somehow.

ya, if i go through one of those car dryers mine vibrates like the trunk is being ripped off, but never done it while driving, even when hitting speeds of 100+ i have never had it happen driving, just from the giant blow dryers.

Like people said, its the wind playing with your spoiler's harmonics.

Check the bolts as suggested...that would be the easiest fix.

Mine went nuts once at 135, but I've taken it up to 140 several times and had no problems the other times.

It was probably just the wind hitting it at the right angles and speeds.

I have the same thing happen-it happens in the blow dryers at the cw and it happened once around 130, if the wind hits it just right, it'll dance. I put some dynomat underneath the decklid to change the weight which changes the force required to make it reverb. So far so good.
