burning smell

The other day I noticed a strong burning smell coming into my car while driving and Im guessing its the clutch burning up but the gears shift fine and now the smell went away but should I be concerned my clutch is burnt out. My car has 21,000 on it. Should I take it in to the dealer to get checked out or just let it be.

do you have a smaller pulley or anything? i get a burning smell every time i drive cause of the pulley so it might be that.....another thing could be that the car is running rich........that smells too but the dealership told me it was normal. but it also might be the clutch i would have it looked at

It might be a plastic bag stuck to your exhaust system. Just my 2 cents.

Just to be on the safe side.

Although, if it's not making the smell anymore, you'll probably get told that they couldn't do anything because they were unable duplicate the problem.

You should NOT get a burning smell from the pulley, if you are I suggest you fix it ASAP.

Absolutely NOT...those belts are made to last, NOT burn up...if they fail, they snap - not melt.

Take it to a different dealership - preferably someone who knows what they're talkin' about.
