Um...what kind of gaskets are you using? I've never had problems with the header/downpipe gasket (it's vibrant so it's metal), but some problems at the catback gasket (bolts coming loose). Never blown out though.

idk know why it's happening but if u want to try something go get some of the RTV copper gasket (comes in a black toothpaste looking tube) it's made for exhausts and is awesome stuff, used the copper gasket on both sides of the new gasket and then put it back on... problem should be fine

yah when i did my exhaust heade rdownpipe setup i had to mess around with it with the car running to quiet the exhaust leak, i had to play with the downpipe bolts a little tighten them all up al ittle then wiggle the gasket and then tighten the bolts until it goes away, same with the exhaust/downpipe area took me a good 20mins of fiddling around with both those gaskets to seal correctly. and even then i ende dup just saying fuck it and used some red rtv on the uber small spots that still leaked. otherwise it was fine.

The exhaust issues may be because we're mating two different materials together with different weights, strengths, etc (stainless + whatever the stock is made from)...I wonder if people who do head all the way back (say vibrant) have exhaust leak issues.

Exhaust Leak

Didn't want to start a new thread so here goes....

Last month, I got a CEL and took it in, and got a code for an exhaust leak. They said the exhaust system was fine and just reflashed or updated my car with new software and sent me home. Yesterday, my CEL came on again and today took it in to Saturn. They said it was the same code as last time for a leak P0442. The service guy asked if I had any upgrades to the s/c or exhaust and I don't. Well they had the car running in the bay and eventually said there was a leak near a seam in the exhaust. They are ordering a new evap cannister and I have to go back in a couple days...

Any insight into this would be appreciated-Thanks!
