Cooler thermostat?

So went back to the guys house that tuned my car, we hooked up HPT and drove around IAT were 60-65, but the engine temps were like 180-190 the whole time and never went down and he couldnt add enough timing and i still had spark knnock. He just did an 06 and 07 SS/SC and there engine temps were around 160-170, so im wondering if theres a thermostat I/WE can get, maybe like a 160? Any info would help and he told me my car was sensitive so he was wondering if my car was different that the others, meanin 05-07 RLs and all the SS/SCs, thanks guys!!

my therm needle is broken in my cluster, so i can only monitor from my interceptor, and my coolant temp reads like 180ish alot. sometimes itll jump to 220, then drop back down. its always hot as balls in SC, so im hoping its just cuz of the temps outside.

Oh hey buddy! lol its not 1am here yet! hahahaha. But ya it sucks cuz i think the 04s ecms are different than the 05-07s cuz he couldnt add any timing cuz the ECT were to warm they were idling between 185-190 so he was asking me all these ?'s about the cobalts and redlines cuz an SS/SC he tuned had 174 ECT and he got more timing added and less knock so i was like hmmm maybe ill upgrade the PCM or the thermostat, i dunno only way yo get more HP that way.

Mine's an 04, and I rarely see engine temps above 185 unless I'm idling for an extended period of time.

Ya i know same here but it seems like my ECT are effecting my tune some how i can adjust timing and fixed the last part of knock i have left. Everybody else hes tuned hes added alot of timing and stuff, we just got most my knock gone and lowered my A/F to mid 11s so i dunno what else to do?

i'd say your better bet is to make sure your iat2's are low enough. our engines should be able to handle 200 degree coolant, but high iat2's will cause problems

Ya we did and there all normal. I was hopin we could get some HP outta timing but he couldnt so i dunno what else i can do, guess ill keep the fans on when i drive hard or when im sittin in hot weather. Then start upgrading some parts.
