Steering Clunk

I posted this in the TSB sticky, but then realized that the fewer questions in that sticky, the better. I'm not that smart when it comes to steering components and fixes so I was hoping you could answer:

Clunk in Steering System at Slow Speeds While Turning and/or Driving Over Bumps (Replace Intermediate Shaft) #05-02-32-005B - (Oct 28, 2005)
Repair: replace steering intermediate shaft assem

WOT
I've got this exact issue with my Redline right now and the dealership is charging me to "replace both stabilizers because they have to both be changed at the same time".

Does this sound somewhat right? My girlfriend took the call so she just relayed the information.

As this is a TSB, is it my responsibility to pay for the parts and/or labor? They are charging about $400 for the fix.

Thanks!!!! RLFFTW

I thought that issue was the sway bar end links. Are you still under warranty? Try driving and jerking the wheel back and forth like a mini slalom, it it clunks bad with every turn, it's most likely the endlinks.

I just got my RL back last week and thats exactly what they did. $40 in parts, but it was covered by my extended warranty.

I'm no longer under warranty, unfortunately, so it looks like it'll come out of pocket. Would it be covered if it were a recall, then, instead of a bulletin?

That's pretty much exactly what it is.

You could have a couple different things going on. It could be intermediate shaft (needs to be lubed), end links (need to be replaced) or subframe bushings (need to be replaced).
