I recently repaired an expensive magnesium transfer case that had a hole in it from extended road salt contact on a four year old Chevolet avalanche truck. I used this fantastic steel putty (quick steel) sold at walmart for $3.50. I find it superior to JB weld. For best results I would remove the oil pan to eliminate any chance of the seeping oil ruining the initial bond.

Its not terribly bad, youll need to take off the bottom 2 bolts for the a/c and me thinks one for the belt acc as well, after that very simple. Take off the rest of the bolts and use a soft hammer to wigle it free. replace and use a bead of gasket maker as your new gasket.

Eh...quicksteel is a hit or miss. Sometimes it works awesome. Other times it makes me wanna shoot myself because it keeps failing. My buddy at work loves the stuff though...swears by it.

its really easy now that i figured out how to get it back on. i just changed mine yesterday, theres 2 bolts additional from the oil pan bolts themselves. 1 is the ic pump bracket bolt and 1 is a ac compressor bolt all are 13 mm except the 2 that go through the oil pan into the bell housing those are 18 mm when reinstalling you have to tap the new oil pan with a rubber hammer to get it to line up on the dowels that come out of the block first tap it forward towards the front of the car then tap it towards the left hand side (drivers side) while holding pressure upwards on the pan.

edit: you also have to take the plastic loose from the pass side using a crows foot and there is one 8mm bolt. after plastic is loose you can reach the three bolts on the pass side of the oil pan ratchet wrench is perfect for these bolts
