Clunking sound when I hit a bump

Ok this started this morning and has gotten a lil worse since then. It sounds like it would be a sway bar linkage but a quick look, looks like everything is good. ANY ideas? other than that i'm thinking tranny/engine mounts but to me the engine mounts look to be in good shape. I don't feel any difference in shifting so could it still be trans mount?

Also looking under should this gear piece be exposed?

If that's a picture of what I think it is, that's normal for the gear to be visible.

If you're clunking when you hit bumps I'd lean towards the sway bar linkages. When the joints start to go they clunk if I remember right.

Yep, I rule. From what I've heard, Bwoody are the best replacements around.

I'm happy with the Spicer endlinks from rockauto.com. Absolutely no clunking or fitament issues, looks OEM but easily 2x as heavy as stock. I know theire not flashy like the bwoody ones, but at $40/endlink, they are a definite improvement handling-wise.

Also, make sure everything connected to your strut is torqued correctly, especially if you were messing around with any suspension parts recently. They tend to get loosened easily if they're not completely tightened and cause horrible clunking that kinda sounds like the bushings.

(Ignore the bent one. Your's shouldn't look like that.)
In this picture, it attaches off the top hole on the strut and continues down to the end of the front sway bar (left-most lower bar) It's disassembled b/c I was doing some strut work.

The bolts on the endlinks shouldn't be loose. They were damn near impossible to get off when I needed to replace the endlinks. Also, they spin, so you may think they're loose, but they're not. If you're going to mess around with them, make sure both front tires are off the ground or else the bolt won't line up with the hole.

So thats where my clunking noise is coming from.... that seems simple. I'll fix that once the oil stops going into my coolant.
