sunroof problems

ok I got an 05 redline with 38k miles on it, just bought it little under 2 months ago. 1st problem im havin with it is the sunroof now doesnt want to open. I hit the switch it moves bout 1/8th inch and stops, if i push itll go up and move VERY slowly open but it closes just like normal. Any ideas? motor?

yeah to fix it you just send it to me and i'll mail you my roof when i cut it out

yes, motor ide say. take a voltmeter to the wires (theres 3 wires if you pull down your headliner a little bit. have someone push the sunroof button while you have the voltmeter on the wires, and test all 3 cuz i cant remember what wire goes to what. then come back on here and post your reading, or unless you know urslef that its dead, or dying.

i would say motor for sure. Maybe check the tracks to make sure something isnt gettin jammed. But 99% sure its the motor

im gonna try to grease the track n see if that helps. Its gettin cold out now so it really doesnt bother me THAT much to not be able to use it right now.

Its prolie the switch, mine tilts but doesnt open fully if u press hold it all the way u gotta have it held at the right spot and it opens all the way.

no matter where the switch is at, it will not go up on its own

the only way to be sure of everything is to test the wires when your pressing the button.

Be sure you are lubing the proper points of your ION at the specified times. The sunroof track takes either lubriplate from GM or IIRC GL2 spec grease.
