Overheat?

So i have a truly retarded problem (kinda pissing me off)

If i drive on the freeway at 68-69MPH (anything under 70) the temp is 190 (steady) if i go even 1mph over 70 the temp starts climbing even if i do a consistant 75Mph it will climb. It will climb until i bring it under 70(once under 70 it goes back to 190 FAST). Heres some info

*this is NOT rpm specific (ive tried in 3rd gear 4th gear and 5th even 2nd...diddnt like that)
*this is NOT boost related it will do it under full boost and it will do it at 22lbs Vaccum)
*this did this before the FMIC (so blocked airflow is not in question)

witht he above mentioned we can rule out Head gasket. Also if i do a hard 3rd gear pull the temp goes down to like 185 (like it should) Overall i cannot go over 70 on the freeway (nice way to not get a ticket) but really annoying.

Please throw in some input im at a loss Ive never seen a speed specific problem like this it kinda even rules out thermostat.

i'd say you have an aero problem then...like higher speeds and the air isn't going through the radiator like it should. 190 isn't too hot though.

When my inter cooler pump went i did not see temps under 180 so this might be a possibility

dumple--intercooler and engine coolant are separate systems.

Mine does the same thing Scott. it has been really hot lateley and mine climbs to 210 sometimes running 80-85 but at night time when its cooler out it hovers around 185-186 its just that damn hot out. If it was a coolant problem i would think i would see those numbers all the time so im not to worried about it. even though its 95 out side just think of the amount of heat coming off that blacktop? gotta be 110-120 or higher.

Start checking for signs of a blown head gasket. Coolant in oil or carbon or oil in coolant.

Check to make sure all of your plastic air dams are in place around the radiator, if they aren't you wont get properly airflow though the rad at speed. Make sure your fans are functioning correctly.

change your coolant resevoir cap. could be letting pressure not build. Letting the coolant to boil. Only true way to be sure is pressure test the system and the cap, and also make sure the fans come on.

as far as head gasket - There is no sign of oil in water, or water in oil. Car blows no smoke (at all) and when doing a 3rd and 4th gear ahrd pull the temp gets cooler and the reservoir does not fill up.

Fans are fine they both come on. I do not have ANY air dams at all (the car never had them and it was fine before)

im going to replace thermostat and cap and see how she reacts.

Not having any lower chin spoiler is fatal for engine cooling. It serves to pull air out from behind the radiator. The testing I have done shows that without it you will have issues at speed underload. Looks like thats true. My radiator is tilted back at the top and the chin spoiler is lowered an inch to accomodate a large h/e behind the ac condenser in very hot weather my cooling temps are still off the thermostat
