Question Intake installed??

My Ex installed an intake on my 05 redline and I was having problems with my car, so I took it to saturn. They found that Duck tape does not hold(yeah he was a bright boy) a K&N filter on and it is not covered under warranty to have it fix.

Any Ideas? Should I just pay to get the stock back on or anther K&N filter?

Would I mess up the car anymore if I have another K&N filter put back on(the right way)? As they are saying that the sensor should be fine once they clean it. But he cut the clip and put a hole in the thing that holds the stock filter. So its going to cost me $532.00 to get it back to stock.

Red face

I would say it would be cheaper to have another K&N installed.

Is it a K&N intake or just the filter? Although it would be cheaper to just buy a whole new intake and it would come with all the correct hardware.

I would disconnect all the tubes (leave them in place or take them out, whatever you are comfortable with), Buy some throttle body cleaner or brake cleaner and go bananas on that. Take out the MAF sensor (with that tiny 5.5 or 6.5 ratchet) and give that some TLC with the brake or throttle cleaner too... but after cleaning it all out... reattach everything and put a new k&n on it...

Hopefully there is no damage to the S/C by dirt and stuff getting in there. There is no way easily to clean that out....

Question Intake installed??

The K&N Filter feel off and I dont know how long I was driving it when this happened. But right now Saturn is telling me that I have to order the MAF as an assembly.

I could order the sensor separately, but not the cylinder that holds the filter.

Is there anyone selling a cylinder cheap?

First, It will be a pain in the ass of monumental proportians to put the canister that holds the filter in. There is a reason people hack it to peices to get it out....

Second, If you really want to go stock, there is someone on here parting out a total'd redline... You could probably get it cheap from him
2005 redline being parted out

Third, I have a MAF sensor I am not using... I bought it when I was on a wild goose chase and the dealership wasn't helping me at all... I don't need it, I haven't tested it, but I am assuming it is ok. PM me if you want it

DO NOT USE BRAKE CLEANER ON THE MAF, IT WLL EAT AWAY THE SENSOR. USE ELECTRICAL CLEANER!

You can use brake cleaner on the MAF. It just has to be the non-chlorinated kind.
