sorry but this kinda has to do with the subject but its sooooo funny (blonde joke)

A few days ago I was having some work done at the local Ford Dealership. A blonde came in and asked for a seven-hundred-ten.

We all looked at each other and another customer asked, "What is a seven-hundred-ten?"

She replied, "You know, the little piece in the middle of the engine, I have lost it and need a new one." She said that she did not know what it was but this piece had always been there.

He gave her a piece of paper and a pen and asked her to draw what the piece looked like. She drew a circle and in the middle of it wrote 710. He then took her over to another car, which had its hood up and asked, "Is there a 710 on this car?"

She pointed and said, "Of course, it's right "there."

Click here to see what she pointed to

Back to the check engine light... haha. It went off and is now back on as of tonight. I cleaned the MAF with electric cleaner but it didn't do anything. I've had the K&N on for about 4,000 miles and have only had the CEL come on for short spans and go off, this time its more solid. I gave all the connections a quick check and they seem tight with no leaks, i'll try rotating the filter like spooner said, but other than that... time to replace the MAF??

take off the peices that connect the piping together ecpecialy after the maf and clean the sleves and the tubing where it slides on and then try reconnecting also make sure that that tube that goes to the vlave cover is connected. if not That will be the problem. soo check that tube first then if that is on then check the o-ring for the maf then if thats not it then take apart and clean the sleves and tubing

Sounds like fun... I'm positive that tube is connected... and I just had the MAF off and cleaned it, maybe i'll go ahead and replace that o-ring just for good measures, and if that doesn't work... i'll start by cleaning the individual tubes. Thanks again.

and you have your filter all cleaned and lightly covered right on the outside only? also make sure there is no holes in the tubing that go on the connecting spots

And the code this time is? Having the current DTC and the history info would be a big help. I know that you are assuming that it is 0171 but it might not be since you stated that it not behaving the same.

The code was the 0171 and it has returned. I took apart the entire intake and reconnected everything making sure there were no possible air leaks. And it seemed to work, light went off after 1 mile of driving and I was good to go. Then on my way home from work I ran up 2nd gear and hit thrid, a few seconds later... light back on. I took it to autozone, P0171. I'm guessing I got oil on the maf when it was installed (actually I know I did cause I could physically see it) and even with it being cleaned multiple times its just not working correctly. At this point... should I order a new MAF?? Or put the original intake on and see if the CEL still comes on when I got WOT?
