Transmission Issue

This problem only happens when im racing.

1st gear and 2nd gear are fine but when i went to throw 3rd last night its like if the car went into 1st. Scarry shit. Than like a week later throwing 4th its like if the car went into 2nd. Rev limmiter goes Bazerko. And the two times that it has happened ive checked and they have been in the right gear. Its confusing my car only has 6k miles. is there a tsb for this

Our 1st and 2nd have lockouts, so that can't go into them if the actual rpm and the target rpm are more then about 3k apart. So try this: Take second gear to about 50mph (anything above about 40 will work). Then try to put the car in 1st. The lockout will not even let you put the stick in that position.

What I am saying, is that it is physically impossable to go to 1st or 2nd when you are out of range. If you were racing, you probably power-shifted (even if you didn't intend to). These clutches do not do well with powershifting. Then have a tendency to just slip and never actually do the grip part of it. That is what my guess is.

Black 06, These trannys are rocks. I will bitch about plenty of componants of the car (namely, clutch, differential, axles, exhaust, delayed tach, valve springs, cams, etc), but the saab tranny is solid. BFD, it rattles... Cry me a river

So is the rattles are normal for this tranny?

Hey Get_Sum, sounds like your having the same problem as I am. Mine tachs out when going into 4th while doing some spirited driving. I'll hopefully be taking the car in today and have them actually work on it instead of driving it around trying to get it to do it to them. We'll see though??

Are these symptoms of clutch slippage? I'm just wondering if this is a possibility, this is my first manual, and my clutch is still good, so I don't know from experience what it's like for the clutch to slip while driving. I may be wrong, but just throwing out the possibility...

I'm really doubting its clutch slipping... doesn't that usually happen in lower gears, not so much 4th gear?? If its the clutch, then its still not my fault, I've baby'd this clutch and its not my first manual. And shifting from 5th to 4th shouldn't really be that hard on the clutch. But they won't do anything til they duplicate the problem. Hopefully I can email/get a hold of someone higher up in saturn service (above my dealership) and see if that can be changed, all they did was scan the computer for transmission problems. Nothing more than that. Anyone got any way to email/contact someone higher in service then the dealerships??
