Check Engine Light

Well I keep getting the CEL to come on from time to time, and after the 2nd time of it coming on, the dealer is convinced that its a bogus code. They claim to have called an engineer at Saturn (not sure I buy that one) and claim that there's going to be a bulletin for a bogus code if it continues to happen nationwide. Has anyone else had excessive CEL codes? Anyone else buying the story that Saturn gave me? At any rate its quite frustrating. I wonder if this qualifies for Lemon Laws??? I mean am I wrong for expecting a car that's just over a year old to operate without any trouble??

i bet they called tac. either way, havent had this problem. do you have a aftermarket intake or anything?

Its ALL stock. I did have to replace the Air Filter with an OEM Fram filter. I started having this trouble shortly before installing this Air Filter. I went from 23 MPG to 28 MPG back down to 24 MPG. This is also around the same time I had an ECM reflash, and then a few weeks ago I had the engine go into the "limp mode" where I couldn't go any faster than 50 MPH in 5th gear. I'm afraid as to what this means for me AFTER my Warranty is expired. Maybe I'll have to think about some other more reliable form of transportation?!?!

despite what some on here think, limp mode can be engaged due to a certain condition being true, not necessarily by beating the crap out of the car.
i dunno what to tell you man, mine came on saturday during the woodward dream cruise, but that was because i sat in traffic for 2 hours only moving 4 miles. I checked on the tech 2, and all the conditions were set to set off the code i had (fuel trim lean bank 1 i think). maf at a certain hz, iat above a certain degree, that type of thing. Its probobly bad programming on GM's part :\

I have yet to get a cel, knock on wood. even when I forgot to re-attach my k&n intake. car stalled after a minute and thats it

Ok this is driving me nuts (like the caddy told his near-sighted golfer). The check engine light comes on, goes off on its own, then comes back on later. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I need to handle this? I'm thinking of taking it to a different Saturn dealership just for a second opinion....

Do you know exactly what DTCs have been set??

i have a o2 code that wont stop i also have a leaky gasket i think thats why thats happening dunno i keep resetting it but the leak is still there ?

DTCs? Not sure what that is. ECM settings or something? Supposedly I have the latest ECM reflash out there. I've had the cam position sensor thing done TWICE. I even re-wired the Intercooler wire per the thread on this site. Not sure at this point what it can be.

Well I took my car back in on Monday, and they replaced the MAF sensor on the car. I haven't had a chance to drive it since as soon as it was done there, it had to go to the body shop because of the idiot that rear-ended me a few weeks ago. At any rate, as soon as I get it I'm going to test and re-test the Saturn Dealership's diagnosis of the problem. Hopefully my MPG will go back to 25 MPG like it was before I started having these problems. Before the MAF work I was getting about 22-23 MPG. To Be Continued...
