I have a 04 rl and the last few days have been cruising at 3000 rpms and all of a sudden it will chug down to 1500 rpms and then go back to 3000 rpms. it has done this on 4 occasions in the last 2 days. I was thinking it was maybe the fuel filter. I changed that at a year and a half ago. car has 115k on it.
Can anyone share some insight for me? thanks guys and girls
My old SW2 did that when the cat broke into pieces and one of the pieces would rattle around and then wedge itself sideways blocking the exhaust flow and choking the motor.
You might also check your EVAP system...and pretty much everything else people suggested so far.
