Did the dealer install the correct oil in your RL? I'm not sure if that would cause rough idle at first. I used to have trouble with the car not wanting to start initially or after a brief 5 minute drive. They did the Cam position sensor recall and I rarely had that problem after that. What type of fuel economy are you seeing with your car in its current state? Make sure that you request the dealer check on all campaigns for you but the "hessitation during acceleration" is the key word to get them to perform the recalibrations. Good Luck.

I've been getting crappy gas milage. Highest milage per tank has been 190-200 so far, avg. in the 180s. But I drive very hard.

However, I have babied it, and didn't see MUCH of an increase. Next tank, I am going to granny shift for almost entire tank and see if it makes a large difference. Probably should, so I'll see.

I'll try the "hesitation during acceleration" when heading to the dealer, when and if I go. Gonna see if it continues to chug on start up, and try at least EASY driving w/ one tank of gas before going down.

My fuel economy is about dead on for the car. 19 in the city and 24 on the highway. I mostly get about 23 between the mix of driving that I do and I get about 250-260 per tank.

I'v had the same problem on a 2nd to 3rd shift when its cold. Don't really know what it is but like you guys said, when it heats up its fine. My old Honda Del Sol did the same thing in cold weather but it also had a stage two clutch, thought maybe that was it. Let us know how it goes.

my 04 had the same problem as decribed only in the morning. Just got it back yesterday and they said it needed a new throttle body. They installed the new throttle body, cleared the codes, and now its running great....no more rough run in the morning. I really dont understand what could have been wrong with the throttle body and saturn couldnt seem to explain it to me. Im just happy the car is running good.

I've a feeling if I actually drive normally (rather than WOT from every damn light, and hard 60% of the time), it'll tack on another 50-60 miles. That'd be, on avg, 4 to 5 mpg better than the 15 I'm getting now. Gonna give it a shot soon.

Mines doing it in the evening, too, after work. If this continues, I have no choice but to take it to the dealer.

Easy enough to list the probs for em, as it stands now:

1) Rough start if it sits for 6+ hours. Chugging, almost stalling, until the ECU gives it some gas. Then runs fine. Otherwise, idle is okay, once warm.

2) Hesitation in 2nd and 3rd gear, until the car is warm. Clunky shifts, too, until warm.

So it's okay for the time being. Best to keep an eye on it for a few days, and possibly run it down on Saturday. If they change anything, then I'll check out my shitty MPG after any fixes.

SLSDuke82,

I have been having the exact same problem with mine. It has been in twice for that issue. the second time they said they could not duplicate. But it has done it the last two mornings when it is cold and damp outside. But yeah, exact same symptoms you are decribing. last time they ensured that the flash work was up to date, and it did not do it for over a week. Now i am wondering if it is a humidity issue as it has done it the last two mornings.

It has never done it later in the day, only when it has been sitting for a while, at least 8 hours or so. usually overnight. I'm almost glad to hear someone else is having this issue. I'm not alone it it at least. I am thinking of taking mine next week for it, if I do, I'll let you know what they say. Also, I would appreciate it if you would do the same for me if you take yours in. I'm wondering if there is some moisture building up in the intake or at the MAF maybe and throwing things off until the airflow blows it clear.

Starts up, revs to 2000 right at start, then returns to about 1100, only to sit for a second and then drop to almost nothing. Then the car kicks itself back up to 2000 trying to keep itself running, does that wobble a couple of times then settles out at 1100.

Thanks, Kirt
