I just purchased a Redline yesterday. Before that I had a '97 Suzuki Sidekick that I bought 5 years ago. Fully insured I was paying $4,000 per year with no tickets and no at fault accidents.
Needless to say I let the bank buy physical damage coverage and just paid liability @ $150/month, which dropped to $63 with progressive after I turned 25.
I'm paying 1600 per year now fully insured on the Redline.
Of course, I fully financed the car, so 600/month for a car payment doesn't feel too good.
As for a credit check, Progressive definitely uses it, but they don't use the Bureau score. I'm rated in the top 98% with the insurance company right now, and with the new loan, I couldn't borrow a cup of sugar.
