3.0 pulley problem?????

I just installed a 3.0 pulley from pulley tech. When I started the car there is a squeaking noise comming from the car. Could this be because I put too much anti seize on the shaft because the pulley was really hot after 7 min of idleing. I just don't want to be driving the car if this is hurting it. I thought it was a belt slipping but I am hitting 15psi with no problems. So maybe it the pulley is slipping on the shaft. I don't know I am lost/frustrated

Hmmm... what did you use to remove, and reinstall the pulley? Did you get anti-sieze on the belt or pulley itself?

its that the tensioner is not making the belt tight enough. thats the only thing. it could be that there is little slippage but just not enough to bring the boost down. im going to get my belt tightened up from the dealer before i even try to install a pulley cuz mine is already squeaking and i have done nothing to it. i just hope that mine isnt already worn, ill be really pissed if it is. i only have 23,5xx on it.

I've installed a 3" pulley, it isn't too small. I also have a 3.1" on my car, that dosen't make noise either... it could be that there is anti-sieze on the belt, nothing he wrote indicated that it's the tensioner, and only the tensioner. That is another thing to check though... There's othe Cobalts running around with a 3" pulley...

I bought the pulley puller tool with the pulley from them. I put the anti seize on the shaft of the SC not the belt. You guys think that it is the tensioner? If so is there anything I can do or just buy a smaller belt.

you can get the tensioner readjusted if needed. its a possiablity. thats why im gonna get mine checked out first before i do any pulley work.

No, I don't think it's the tensioner. I've put a 3" pulley on a RL before, and he's a member here, never had any belts slipping. I'm thinking its more likely that you got some of the anti-sieze on the belt, accidentally. Did the new pulley slip right on or something? Or was is tight as hell, like it should be.

Other than that, I'd make sure nothing is catching the tensioner and stopping it from pulling everything tight, and I'd keep an eye on everything while driving. If it's not stopping soon, there must be some issue. It will burn off the belt pretty fast, if there's much on there...

I was holding the tensioner down while my buddy bolted the SC back down. When we put the belt on the tensioner hardly moved.

How much play is there in the belt? I'm confused why your had to hold the tensioner down whole bolting the blower on. Was it in the way? I forget if I had to do anything with it.... oh.. I removed it, thinking I could get the pulley on without removing the blower...

What is the squeeking noise like? Constant or intermittent?
