B&M install nightmare

What a pain in the shifter. Took me 2 hours to get the assembly out. So much for the 30 minutes I expected it to take. The problem: the metal bushings, to them were overtightened I assume and stuck on the stud. So after 2.5 hours, 1 smashed finger nail, and 2 bleeding fingers the shifter is in. Gotta do something about the spacing for the knob. Its annoying unscrewing the knob every time to get into reverse.

Your knob goes down too much as well? Odd...

I'm not sure why you would bother replacing the shifter as the factory is already a short shifter...but to each his own...Does it feel any better?

The factory shifter is short but I'd like the throws shorter and some more solid bushings, both of which the B&M provide. A short shifter was the best mod I did on my SVT Focus and that was supposedly equipped with a short shifter as well.

The factory shifter might be shorter than a regular Ion, but it's no short shifter. Even the new one is not REAL short, but it's shorter, it's firmer, and it's ALOT sturdier... The knob will NOT come off in your hand either.

My knob was perfect BTW, as far as I know that makes two people with knob issues....

No issue on my knob either- definitely a better shifter- a better upgrade than the CAI in my opinion

I didnt have any problem with the knob either. I tightened it down as tight as I could get it and it goes into reverse just fine.....

I think they just say that it's a short throw shifter.....My VW bug had a much shorter throw than my RL.....I will wait for a better option. I want a true short throw shifter.
