It's not. The B&M in my car works flawlessly. I have none of the problems that dL_RL is having.

OKAY guys..

I'm a dumb dumb..

I didn't adjust the cable links correctly. The cable link closer to the driver side was off by a quarter of a inch. When I readjusted the linkage, the shifter moved about half a inch to a inch over to the left and my 5th gear worked flawlessly now without lifting the reverse lockout.

My B&M knob now fits fine.

So my bad guys, B&M kicks ass!

It was user error after all.

No no no..no beer before the install! drink after!

Get a crowbar just incase you need one for the install.

I needed 2 different crowbars. Small one and large one.

My shifter assembly was stuck, I could not yank it out without the crowbar. It was nuts. There was some kind of strong adhesive on the rubber tranny mounts. It was nuts getting it out!

Do you think it could improve a track time? Is it a noticable faster shift?

Does it make 2 to 3 any easier... When I miss a shift, it is almost always that one... I have slammed it into the divider between 1 and 3 a couple of times... (once a the track...)

2 to 3.. easier? not for me..

1 to 2 has actually gotten harder for me because it moves the shifter alot closer to my leg.

The aluminum bushings have made the shifting alot more solid and precise. You probably want to invest in bushings if your short on cash ( if you can find them for sale seperately ). If you can spend the $150 go for the entire shifter.

No short shifter can improve track times, only good driving with a combination of the short shifter could possibly shorten track times.

I honestly think the bushings would make the biggest difference. It's not the shifter itself that makes a huge difference.

I had just bushings on my other cars and no short throw shifters and it feels the same honestly.

I drove a RL without the B&M the other day.... BIG difference... it takes some getting used to, but it's worth it. If you had your seat the way I have to have it, on the track, the new location of the shifter makes alot more sense...

This is where I ordered mine. The RL uses the same shifter as the Cobalt SS.

Thanks, I appreciate it. Funny how it says that it will only fit a Cobalt. Oh well I guess.
