First problem with RL

I have had great luck with my car till today. I have 10k on it. I was underneath it and seen that i had some sort of fluid trailing down my engine
cradle. With further inspection i noticed it was tranny fluid. I went even
further and noticed that it was coming from the driverside cv shaft output.
You could see it seeping out.
I also had been to my local dealership in the past and confronted them about the brake rotor gouging issue and they said it was completely normal
for my type of car. I had seen some earlier reports of it,but wondered if anyone had Saturn do anything about it.
Any help or input would be greatly appreciated. My car is completely stock by the way.

Some people have had Saturn resurface/replace the rotors for them, you should push for them to resurface them, if you truly feel that you've been nice on them. Mine have some mild gouging, and I think they are just a touch warped, but that's after two hard races. I will pay for my own rotors, since I put the hurting on them.

As far as the tranny leaking, make 'em fix that shit. They have little choice about that one, assuming you don't go in there with racing numbers on the side of the car.

I've noticed a slight shaking, nothing too bad, of my brakes now when I slow for a red light. Doesn't interfere, but I can tell it's there. I bought my RL used w/ 7500 miles, and have put 3000 on it since Aug 1. Wasn't doing it when I bought the car, only started up recently. And I've been nice to the brakes, at least. Can't say the same for the transmission (learned to drive a stick on the RL, and have been speed-racing around), but my rotors will probably end up needing replaced some time soon. I assume it was the first owner, but also assume that's a chance you take buying a used car.

Yup, that's how mine feels as well, it dosen't even happen all the time, mainly uder real light braking in a straight line. I'm gonna get my alignment checked as well.

I wanna try out the Stillen rotors anyway, since it seems no one else has.

Yup...same. Can't tell under hard braking (did a panic stop two days ago for the hell of it...haven't really tried out the brakes hard, yet. From 80...damn...feels like you're hitting a wall), but during a slow stop. Just a..."ah, crap...they're shaking." My alignment needs done, too. But that's a given in Pittsburgh...we have more potholes than flat pavement here. All the time. Two seasons, too. Summer and construction.

Because the RL has such good brakes, I assume warpage is to be expected? Since those suckers are strong? 11 or 12k miles doesn't seem like a lot of time on them. I'll also need to be replacing the pads, soon. Notice them squeaking every now and then.

Any vented rotors for the RL? If anything, they'd look cool...esp. with painted calipers

Replacing the pads at 11-12k? Try flushing out your calipers with a hose to remove some dust first. My wheels get filled with brake dust, and occasionally squeak (very little), and I just spray some water on there and it goes away for awhile. I'm at 21K, and I still have well over 50% left on my pads.

My pads are actually fine, they're so solid that the rotor goes before the pads do...

hey all i bought a new 2005 redline it has about 2800 and i noticed a leak from my drivers side cv imput shaft also i took it inot the dealer and they replaced the seal,,i picked it up today seems good now,,it took them a couple hours once they got the part...i also asked them about the rotors also they told me that it was normal wear to have some grooves,,/..i looked at a couple other redlines and they looked the same,,my car has no shake and brakes good,,so i am not going to worry about it...

You wont get much action for anything you are seeing "visually" on the rotors. However if you have any sort of brake pulsation, they will likely turn them
