Squeaky brakes while hot?

Another member on the board here, Freakazoid, and I went out to do some hard driving today. Wanted to give him a runaround w/ the RL, since he's thinking about getting one.

Anyway, we did a lot of WOT accelerating and hard braking. I'd just cleaned my rims yesterday, and they were covered w/ dust by the time I got home. I probably hadn't done THAT much braking since I've owned the car.

While heading back, we noticed my RL's brakes were pretty damn squeaky while coming to a stop. This was right after getting them hot. But, as they cooled, the noise went away for the most part. I hardly get any squeaks, except for when first starting out.

Also, I'm noticing a slight vibrating while coming to a gradual halt.

Possibly wearing pads/rotors? Just curious--it was quite noticeable today.

Also--we got some kickass backroad video inside and out. We're gonna put together a clip and get it up

yup yup that video will be up shortly, mmmm so sweet looking, just a matter of figuring out now if it's my firewire card that's messed up or the cable, or even the camcorder!! any of the above are fixable regardless, just gotta hit up bestbuy and get ready to set myself up for some exchanges. Gimme a sec Jon, hopefully I'll have it up for us tonight :-D

I'd love to know the brakes squeaking myself, would like to see what some people think. The fact that as we cooled down the squeeking went away is the reason why I was thinking maybe the heat was doing something, it was nowhere near consistent enough imo for the brake pads to be nearing death. Now if you had that all the time then I'd be saying otherwise.

Though you had mentioned the shuttering to me and I forgot to say that I didn't feel anything when I drove? (Granted I didn't do any real hard braking myself). My theory is though either slightly warped rotors (but they're not making any noise, minus the squeaking which is sorta weird, I'm not particularly good at diagnosing, but ANY rotor problems I've had have always had some sort of 'moaning' sound), or possibly a caliper issue?

Throwing my 2 cents out there, see what the experts have to say.

Oh and RL verdict is sweeeet, the wheel hop is a little goofier than I expected lol.

Also another thing I was thinking about is the squeaking just be brake dust, would sorta make sense that after braking hard, more brake dust = more squeeking

You may have glazed them a bit, I would suggest driving nice and easy for 100-200 miles on them, and see if it improves. Depending on how hard you push the brakes, the mild vibration could be just what you described. My brakes have VERY MILD pulsing to them, but I expected it after my driving, and then racing.
