A lot of carbon??????

Ok it's wierd I have a lot of carbon on the bottom of my muffler(black sute)

And the end on the tailpipe on the inside is black also. I know there have been catalytic converter problems but the car runs just fine and there isn't any black on the driveway where i park.

don't worry about the bottom of the muffler. there is a drain hole for moisture in the muffler. i thought mine had a leak as well last winter, and the advised re the drain hole.

Thats good to know cause when i get the exhaust done and if the cat went bad I didn't want the dealer blaming it on the 3" exhaust and make e pay for a cat.

they're liable for something like 100,000 miles. nothing after the cat could be blamed on its failure.

BINGO, just the stuff that you replace after the cat, ie. piping, muffler etc., will be voided so you will be a ok when it comes that time, and if the dealer tells you that your muffler is going to void the cat, they need to get a better head on their shoulders

I have the same problem in my garage. I start my car every morning and let it warm up for about 3-4 minutes before I leave. After 2 weeks of this I have a 1 1/2 ft long black mark on the garage floor right below the tip.

How could my cat have gone bad in two weeks? The dealer put regular unleaded gas in it before I took delivery but I've never heard of that causing a cat to go bad...
