Alarm goes off when you open passenger door?

My dad went out to put something in my car yesterday and realized that if the doors are locked and you unlock my passenger door manually with the key rather than the fob, the alarm will go off when you open the door. I know it's not supposed to do this but I was just wondering if it did it to anyone else.

If you lock your door with the keyfob, you have to unlock it with keyfob or the horn goes off, did it on my drivers and passenger side door. (at least to my knowledge and what I have been told)

That is correct any entry with the key when the alarm is set will trigger the alarm.however the key will disarm the alarm when put in the ignition and turned on.

if you lock with the fob thenopen the door with the key you have about 5 secs to get the key in the ingnition before the alarm goes off.. plus the security light will flicker before the horn goes off

5 seconds? Mine was instant. In fact I just did in my dad's car as I didn't know if he locked it with the fob or not so I just used the key. Open the door 1cm and horn just blarred at me (stupid garage echo). I can't test that on my car though as I have an aftermarket alarm on mine.

mine doesnt give you 5 seconds either. I think every GM with the stock alarm is the same way.

mabey not 5 seconds but it should give you a small window to beable to put your key in the ignition before the alarm sounds
