Wierd ass engine issue

okay last night went down to my gate to open it for the old lady.. and revved my car up to about 5500-6000, on a cold start and drove it about .5 miles.. then it started shaking and back firing.. popping the exhaust hard.. also i noticed the throttle body is opneing i can hear it but the motor wont rev up for it.. just opens and closes but no increase in rpms no matter how far its opened.. let it return to normal idle and it will rev up.. wierd..
just put a weapon r intake on it and had the boost bypass mod done.. this shouldnt be causing my issues do you think?

that really sounds like bad gas/water in the gas tank to me... any takers?

So, you nearly redlined the car right after you started it up?

I just thought the same thing. That's a good way to break something.

I did that once...and only once. By mistake. Rolled my foot over the throttle while reaching for something. The car did NOT like it. It held the revs up and sputtered, popped, whatever. Bitched me out.

Not a good idea. If there was a problem, it's easy to see why lol. Don't cold start rev any car...

I mean, from the description, it would seem that the car went into limp mode, but can't be sure....

In limp mode you get that little icon in the lower right of the engine with the down arrow in it. and i have never seen that happen without an MIL/CEL/DTC either.

I thought the rev limiter was for warming up my car. I floor it, turn the key and watch the tach bounce for a while then she's ready to roll.

Works better with a spud in the tailpipe.

It sounds like a fuel issue. The engine will tend to backfire like that if it isnt getting enough fuel. The computer might have just had a brain fart due to the hard driving right off the bat. Maybe try to take it easy on the thing for the first few miles to avoid computer confusion or rods from flying out the bottom.
