Odd fuel and exhaust problem

About a month ago my IRL had it's first SES light. Which came as a surprise because the vehicle seemed to running just fine. So, to the dealer it went. The code it threw indicated a vapor lock problem and the gas cap was the culprit. The work order says that the cap was worn out. (It is common onmost GM models that if you do not put the gas cap back on or do not tighten it that it throws a temporary code.) I don't know how you wear out a gas cap in just over a year, but if that is what fixed it I'll buy that. Well a week later another SES light. Trip number two. This time they replaced the Canister purge solinoid and yet another gas cap. Problem solved. Until a week later. SES light and trip number 3. This time it is the vent solinoid. The tech explianed that this could be a multiple problem and/or some kind of cascade failure. One problem component sends the rest of the parts to either go out of wack or fail in part or completely. But it takes time to happen.

Well they do not have the parts in currently and are on order. They requested I drop the var off for a few days so that they can replace the partsand go over all of teh wireing and sensors. They did said I will have no problems driving the vehicle in the mean time. I may experience poorer than ussual gas milage, but it will not cause further damage. I just hate driving with the SES light on. If something else goes wrong I won't know it.

Thought maybe you people should hear this. Anyone else had similar problems?

Side note: No major mods. Goofy's torque brace and I modified the air intake a bit but nothing that wouldn't produce anything out of norm with a CAI installation. I have no other problems with the car except the normal TSB stuff (cam shaft sensor, rear seat and headliner squeek, etc)

Yeah I had the exact same problem. I think you mentioned this before and the dealer told you it was the gas cap. When I had the problem I went to Auto zone and had them check the code and they told me it was most likely the gas cap, so I bought one. I never put it on thought. I went to the dealer and had them check it and they told me that it was the vent solinoid right away and I have had no problems since. Still running the factory gas cap
