Of course these symptoms could be the result of a myriad of potential faults (as with any car) but this sounds like the bad cam sensor timing issue to me
Assuming someone has completed the cam sensor seal campaign, they probably timed it to cyl #1 TDC on compression instead of cyl #4.

Can you ask them to check to see if anyone has ever completed campaign # 05522 yet on the car yet? (applies to 2004 and 2005 models only) It's very easy to get that damn sensor out-of-time as it's extremely "tight" confines in the area of the sensor (compared to the SS/SC).

HTH

Spooner: Well the GM rep is back at work on Jan 2... I am expecting news on the 3rd, will keep u posted...

Nbuddle: yeah as for my car it is not a cold start problem... my car does it at operating temperature only, and long after start up... weird

WOP: I will bring that to the dealership's attention... As far as I know, next on the list to change is the control module for the throttle body itself... but I cannot be 100% on that since I haven't talked to service since yesterday..

I will be sure to keep y'all posted though... thanks to everyone contributing to this thread in a positive manner and adding you .02 its apprecaited...

more to come in the new year or whenever I get news!

regards,

Marty AKA 911Redline

PS: still dont want the car back though.... whats next? isssh

There is nothing wrong with the throttle body that's the stupidest fix I've ever heard for this problem. Isn't it an electrical problem?

Now with that said I have had my RL for over a year and its has been to five dealerships for a total of about 2months in the garage that I was unable to drive it with the same problems you are having. While I lived in FL my car ran like a champ, but the second I went home to Indiana during the winter months it was towed twice with the mechanics replacing everything but the engine block!!! Since my short stent in upstate New York I have had it in the shop three times and towed once. They replaced the spark plugs and a few other things. I have three pages of problems that they have "fixed" on my car thoughtout the last year and have delt with Corporate Saturn on four seperate occasions. They will not buy it back even with the lemon law or it will take more time and money than it is worth it. Now the good news, the local mechanic told me to start it up "DO NOT PUSH IN ON THE GAS" let it idle for a few minutes and it will run fine and no shit it works my car has driven perfect after this simple fix for about 3 weeks now even in negative 22 degree temps. Granted it might die once or twice but it works. Good luck hope this helps.
I had similar problems in the cold. Is it possible that you need to use anti-freeze? That may be far too simple for this problem but since I started parking in a garage I have no rough idling problems therefore leads me to believe it's a temperature thing.

Oh I thought it was the cold start issue. Maybe if the letting it idle trick works without touching the gas, you could buy a remote starter and just let it idle for 5 minutes (wastes gas but...)

Well there is no module specific to the throttle body. The TB motor is controlled directly by the PCM. So can we presume that's what they have changed to rectify the problem?
Sounds like someone's "throwing darts" to me, but did it fix it???????????????????????

well, here is the latest... they installed the new throttle body, I told the Service Manager to drive it himself for a week and see if all goes well... well he left the shop and make it 1/4 mile and the car died. (why? I dont know). When he startd the car he hear the funky noise from the tranny and they pulled the tranny and did the TSB thing... I still havent gotten in my car since Dec 20th... and to be honest I am still not 100% sure if its fixed, and thirdly, well I dont want that car back... The GM rep should talk to the dealership then us today (Monday).

I will keep you posted... and as far as my car is concerned... the Service Manager, I hope, will try this time to go furter with it... lol

keep ya all posted

bummer, mine wold have been kept that long had I not needed it over the holidays. But mine is right back in there as of yesterday.

Mine has had similar issues, but just at start. Chokes itself out somehow, dies about half the time.

They are throwing darts. The last reason that GM tech came up with was "high octane gas around the country is going bad at the stations becasue noone is buying it and it sits in the tanks at the station too long." That was what they actually tried to say... Told me to run a tank of 87. Still did it with 87... i know bout really not wanting the car anymore.

weird bro.... very weird... I hope u got the PCM flash for cold start issues...

UPDATE: looks like its my throttle body that was defective... the dealership tested the car for 4 days and 100 Km's. They want me to go take the car back... still no meeting with GM rep, or they dont want to meet me since the problem is "fixed" (altho they dont care that the car spent a month in the shop while I was still paying for it). Callin the lawyer see what he thinks...
