CEL help

I had the K&N cai for 3 months, the car ran great. I took it racing a couple weeks ago, through a check engine light (PO171). Cleared it with my scan gauge. It has been coming back everyother day since then. Saturn put my cai in so it would still be under warranty, I took it to them 3 times and they could not find anything wrong. Last Thursday, I put the stock intake back on and have not had a light since. Why did this light happen all of a sudden? The car has never run bad, its just the light that pissed me off. IS there going to be any kind of patch made for the RL to regulate a/f more efficiently with a cai? If I were to get the stage upgrades, would that help? Is GM expecting these stage kits to be used with a stock intake, or aftermarket? I bought this car to have fun with it and modify it. If it wont even let me put a stupid intake on it, I dont think there is any hope for serious upgrades. Please tell me there is hope!!

Obviously something changed... I had my K&N on for about 2 months before the light stopped coming on, and now it's been off for 10 months or so. The stage kits SHOULD ease up some of the CEL codes, but not all. I'd just clear it alot.... heh...

I was thinking about just keep clearing them, but thats not really solving the problem. Obviously if it is throwing a code, it is major enough to be a problem. I was hoping I had the ghost in the computer throw false codes thing, but it hasnt been on in 6 days. Im kinda upset cause if it did it stock, I was going to see about lemon law and get the competition package Redline in Tempe. Damnit!!

Hooking the stock intake up, could have fixed your previous issue.... if something was loose, you'd fix it without ever knowing it was loose...

Thats just kinda weird cause Saturn looked at it 3 times and said he tightened everything. I dont think my car likes intakes, remember the problems I had with short ram? I changed out MAF sensors again hoping that would work but no luck. Cars just too picky!

Unfortuantley thats what I was thinking too. And when I was taking it out, that clamp was on that tube so tight that when I loosened it, it broke the clamp. They told me it could be oil from the filter, but I first cleaned the MAF that was on there with no luck, then I put a new MAF on, still with no luck. But you know whats weird?? I did a s/c inlet pressure test with the interceptor, and at wide open throttle, my cai got down to about .9-1. With the stock intake, the bastard went down to 0.00!! How is that possible?
