wal mart sells this stuff called scratch x, its not cheap at 7.99 a tube but i will tell you other than a machine/compound route it is some awsome shit...

now follow my directions here to a tee and you will be okay as long as they are not to deep.... got to a local ace hardware or similar get a sheet of 2000 grit (1500 is okay also if they dont have 2000 grit) waterproof sandpaper (wet sand paper). get a small tuperware or similar container mix any kind of dish detergent or hand soap and some water get it good and sudsy... tear off a very small maybe 2" by 3" piece of the wet sand paper...

very GENTLY go in one direction only do not make circles or "swirls" with the paper so go from like front to back. do not do this for to long. maybe only a few swipes thats all. dry the wet spot and see how the scratch looks you should be able to "see" the inner area of the scratch now.... you may sand just a little more but do not go to deep you will go through the clear coat. dont worry about going thorugh as long as you only just sand a little...
once you are done wipe the panel good and dry.. use a terry cloth like a kitchen towel or hand towel and some of the scratch x and keep buffing it in that area.... it will get more and more shiny as you keep buffing, and put some elbow grease into it....

now this procedure is only if its pretty deep but not through the paint.... it will never come out completly but mostly this way... if they are just super fine scratches go to a local auto body paint supplier and get some 3m finnese it. works amazing....

i just resprayed my rear end of my car due to a few issues... the trunk fix #1 and the paint on my drivers rear quarter panel where the plastic window trim. the one that comes down the rear window was touching the quarter panel... and all the paint was peeling off in the area and just getting worse... im in the processs tomm of finishing it up i.e wet sanding it all down and buffing it out. turned out real nice especially since i havent painted in a while....

Bump! Keep the buffer wheel moving around back and forth and keep the pad flat on the surface, let it cool down for a minute between attempts.(don't hold it still on the scratch!)
