Post Oil Change

My Change Oil Reminder poped on the other day. Last time it went on i took it to the dealer to have the oil changed it came up to like 35 dollars since it was the first time but the guy said it would be like 75 next time since its synthetic oil. So this time im not goin back there to change it, my only question is if when i change the oil will the reminder reset itself or will i have to go to the dealer to do it.

you have to manually reset the oil reminder 'switch' yourself. I'm not certain exactly how you do it, check the manual. But if I remember right you use like the push thing for the odometer to reset it, I know it's in the manual though (or at least I would hope so ).

push the odometer button once to switch to "oil life" than hold it for a few seconds to hear beeps and it will be reset, i think the dealler would do it if you cant figure it out, and if they charged you for that, they would be idiots

ok

to rest the oil light you need to press the button right next to the odometer once.. it will change to oil life... once that comes up hold down the button until it changes to reset... when it resets it will cause the internal chime to go off 3 times... then your oil life meter is reset...

to change your oil you need a 15mm wrench... and a coket that fits ontop of the filter housing which is located under the TB.. i'm not sure on the size but to save a lot of hand burning and swearing buy a matco tool... which is made special for the ecotec engine filter housing... the tool is a socent which is made just to fit the top of the housing but is also very small so you fit in under everything pretty easy.. only costs like $15 and saves a bunch of time...

should only take about 30 mins to change the oil.. super simple and remember it takes 6 qts

I just finished changing my oil for the first time. It sucked but it's not worth paying $75 to have it done for you, IMO.

Did you buy the 1.25 inch rachet head? or the gm part to take the cap off the oil filter?

It will take you less and less time in the future. It took a shit ton of time the first time i did it.

i always take the 2-10mm bolts off the water filler move it out the way and take the cap off with a wrench i cut out its a perfect angle on it works gooood even cut out the 10mm size on the other end to take the bolts off the water filler...imagine that jason making his own stuff... wha i get for being bored and nothing to do exept hey maybe i will make a wrench that will work instead of some socket with a 48" ext. 4 swivels and a breaker bar... alright thats exagerating but the wrench is only 1 tool i could lose when i drop it not several plus i store it onder the seat.

Go to Sam's Club - Mobil 1 is 29 bucks (was 23 when I last did it). Dealer charged around 20 for the filter and change - no hassle with bringing your own oil.
