Question coffee grinder noise.......

OK here's the deal, I went out to start the car a few weeks ago when the temps were in the single digits during the day. After the car was started for about 30 seconds to 1 minute this strange (like a coffee grinder) came from under the hood. I'm pretty sure it's the clutch, because when i pushed the clutch pedal down the noise went away. The noise would stop after 5-10 minutes. I've heard clutch noise before, but nothing like this.

Anyone have any thoughts on this one?

Yeah mine does it too,I think they all do.It's the tranny. There's a TSB on it but they say it doesn't harm anything so it doesn't really bother me 'cause it goes away as soon as it's warm.

I was talking to one of my buddies (he was a dodge technician) and he said it sounds like the input shaft bearing. I don't know, I guess I'll just wait 'til it blows up.

Did you take the battery powered coffee grinder you got for Christmas out of the trunk? Your spirited driving may have bumped it around, and caused it to turn on.

Mine does it as well, always has... I just ignore it... like you said, only when cold, only briefly, and if you push the clutch a few times, it stops.

So does mine. Its harmless. Just annoying. Its the rockers in the tranny that are making that noise. Comes and goes, but overall not harmfull.

Yea I think might be the clutch release bearing being just a bit stiff (internally sealed/lubricated) It does go away when it warms up cprrect? (A bearing that was failing would not)
