Hello, this is my first post and I am not sure whats wrong with the car.
Little background on the car
2006 ion redline had it for a year
oil change every 3k miles
137k miles on it
completely stock from what I can see
I have looked on the forums some here and have tried. I have cleaned the MAF, throttle body, and air filter. It runs smooth but I can tell from the sound something is wrong. I am open to any suggestions I just don't want to run the car and it make things worse Thanks for the help!
Will someone post to let me know they can see my video uploaded on tinypic??
Video of sound below! You can hear the sound a whole lot more at the end. View My Video

I added everything tinypic would let me add, It is in a mp4 format and won't let me upload on here. Yes, it is throwing a check engine light but I havnt been able to go check it because I don't have the device I will hit autozone and see tomorrow though. Best description would be.. sounds kinda like a BOV on a turbo but it only makes that sound when I rev it or push on the throttle. Hopefully you will be able to view the video and tell me whats going on. Thanks in advance.
It sound like its coming from the front half of the car does not sound like from the engine bay but sounds close to the cat, I thought it was that as well and got under the car and beat the hell out of the CC with a rubber mallet but it did not change a lot. It is a northern car a little rusted on the exhaust but does not seem to be rusted completely thought (no holes)
The exhaust is stainless so it will hold up well. Were you beating on the cat or the resonator? The muffler could be plugged too. I just changed out my muffler and was amazed how much better it runs. If the cat is plugged beating on it prolly won't help.
Try the video on YouTube it will prolly work better for linking.
It was the CC for sure. If it's plugged what should I do? Should I take the exhaust of right above the CC and see if it runs better? I know I can get a new one from the junk yard up the street in almost new condition but I don't want to buy it and that not be the problem. I don't think it's the muffler because I ran a small flexible wire up the exhaust and of course it only went so far but I pulled it out and it only had a little bit of grime on it.
I have been reading into different things, some people are having problems with the notorious flex pipe. My question is would it sound like that it was a split flex pipe?
It sortof sounds like a metal on metal noise. when you cleaned the Throttle Body did you take it off first? if you spray carb cleaner into your supercharger you could damage the impeller teflon coating and it could throw it off balance and make a noise like that. its not hard to remove the TB and it's much easier to clean with it off of the engine. cleaning it will also fix the notorious P1182 code.
I am going to take everything from the CC back off tomorrow. In going to check if the flex pipe is broken first or at least see if I feel or see a crack. I'm in south Carolina how far are you?
I know there is a hook under the car that is rusted but that's not the problem, it feels like it's having a hard time "pushing" exhaust out. I cleaned the throttle body and filter separately off the car because I know I could mess something up if I didn't. The sound is not coming from under the hood I also don't think it's the transmission when I am in neutral and rev it the sound is still there. I'm gonna tear the exhaust of tomorrow and see if it solves the problem.
The flex pipe is solid metal it's kind of a silly design, they break easy with how much shift these engines have. Speacialy if you are still on stock mounts. How many miles are on it? If you can hold out Black Friday is comming up zzp will have downpipes on sale.
Ya it's a good bet with that amount of miles and stock mounts the down pipe is in need and ya might wanna get new mounts too if ya have never replaced them. Get the stage1 rotated mounts from Powell racing. They will help the new pipe from breaking too. I know the downpipes were recalled but I don't remember the limits.
I finally got a day of work and was able to mess with the car a little, I'm getting a code for the converter which was expected. I am also getting a code for a "clutch pedal sensor" I searched it using this site typed in clutch pedal sensor and nothing came up. Any help?
