Coolant light on....

Ok. Heres my deal. I'm driving down the strip with my girl, its like 15 degrees out after my car was sitting for like 40 mins. The engine is still warm when I started it. Anyways, we're cruising and I give it some gas for shits and giggles, next thing ya know my coolant light comes on and my car starts to hesitate. I decide to go down a dark lonley road to see how she does WOT..she does fine. No hesitations, nothing. I check my interceptor gauges, coolant temp fine, no codes...She drives home fine. I pop the hood when I get home, funny smell coming from my oil cap. Very faintly..I shut her down and inspect the engine bay, nothing..I start her up , BOOM, 0102 code. and 0443..I look at my code book," mass or volume air flow circuit low"..and " evaporitive emission control system purge control valve circuit...wtf is this code and what does that have to do with my coolant light coming on??? Any input on this would be greatly appreciated. WOP, if you can read this please reply. Thanks.

Jeff.

P.s
I just went out again and started her and she idled like shit! Then after 5 bad drops in rpm's I rev'd her up and she settled down to normal idle and I cleared the codes. What should I do????????

Well, do that for me. I need to know wtf is causing this. Worst case scenario, I'll take her in to my dealership and have them fix it...under warranty of course.

tell them it is Document ID# 1553780 for the TSB... this will save them a lot of time

"Service Engine Soon (SES) Light On, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0443, P0102, P0135, P0141, P023A, Engine Starts, Runs Rough, Stalls Repeatedly (Replace Coolant Pump Charge Air Cooler, 15 amp Fuse) #04-06-02-009 - (Oct 6, 2004)"

tell them it is Document ID# 1553780 for the TSB... this will save them a lot of time

Procedure
-Turn ignition key OFF.
-Replace the 15-amp #10 emissions fuse in the UHJB (Under Hood Junction Box).
-Turn ignition key ON (RUN position), but do not start engine.
-Using the TECH 2®, Special Function, turn the coolant pump charge air cooler ON.

-Important: The position of the charge air cooler pump motor insulator is critical to the operation of the pump. A small gap (5 mm, 0.20 in.) between the ends of the insulator is required for proper charge air cooler pump operation. The insulator should NOT overlap once installed.

-Important: Re-use the Coolant Pump Charge Air Cooler insulator.

-If the 15-amp #10 emissions fuse opens, replace the charge air cooler pump. (Refer to "Coolant Pump Replacement - Charge Air Cooler" procedures (SI Document ID #1389541) in the appropriate Saturn ION Engine Service Manual.
-If the fuse does not open, continue with the diagnosis of the DTCs stored in the Powertrain Control Module (PCM).
Start engine and verify repair.

thats all out of si2000... same info your tech is gunna use

just bring a big bag of fuses with you... if you keep popping them keep replacing them as you go... you'll be fine

Wop would probably know better than me, When this happened to mine last week i was 3 miles from the dealership and took it back, left it for the night "just in case." I'm not sure if a bad CAC pump will actually cause damage or just hurt performance as the air charge is not being cooled, I'd have to read up more on how the system works to be sure. I know alot of the cars drove fine with the pump motor wired backwards for awhile. You many see some driveability problems related to the other sensors that aren't functioning, mainly being the MAF... car can run without the MAF sensor but the computer is basically computing MAF readings based on other sensor data, I had idle problems and a few stalls in the 3 miles I drove it. If your under warranty and they'll pay for a tow I'd say go that route jsut to be safe.
