Door Chimes with no key or lights on

I bought a 05 redline yesterday and I noticed that one thing it does is that the chime goes off with no key in the ignition or any lights on. Anyone have this happen to them? I have two keys both are not factory keys. The door swithces do work and activate the dome light. Could it be the ignition switch?

what do you mean by how many chimes? Its like the headlights are on but no key. That same kind of chime.

Just bought the car so I am not sure if it was fixed under the recall. What was the recall for and how can I check if it was fixed?

You can go to the GM Saturn website and enter your VIN and it will identify if the recall was performed,

gm. com/owner-assistance or my. gm . com / recalls

1.) ignition

2.) power steering

do a youtube seach on ion key in chime user Junomon Abraham is the vid i watched, hard to hear/understand it

this guy figured out how to make the chime stop.. i did this in my redline.

you have to really know what you're doing to get the switch out and disassembled, cut the printed circuit board and reassemble

I will check it out. But I want it to still chime and function properly when the key is inserted. I just replaced the ignition switch and the ignition cylinder, both did nothing. It looks to me like the shaft or pin inside the the cylinder is not engaging the pin in the switch. The pin should go in and out and its not. Not sure why.

Did you take it to the dealer for the ignition?

i know on my 05, its doing the same thing. My ignition has not been replaced. i'm thinking we have the same issue. that the car "thinks" the key is still in the ignition. might want to capitalize on that ignition recall

I have been talking to a gm tech. My car was serviced under the recall in 2015. Its the actual pin in the ignition assembly not engaging the switch pin.
