P0300 code experience?

Anyone know any detail on this code? the car shows zero symptoms and randomly throws this code, which Autozone diagnosed for me.

I saw it listed as a misfire in this forum, but thats just basic indentification...Im looking to see if this needs to be brought to the delaership for any sort of fix/repair of some type....or just ignore it as an insignificant bullshit code. Again....car shows zero symptoms in performance or driveablility.

Thanks,
sean

P0300 shows up as "Random/Multiple Cylinder Misfire Detected" I would get it checked if it were my car.

Basically it is the computer picking up that there was an rpm difference in one or more of the cylinders when it fires. It can basically calculate how fast the engine should turn when it fires, and if it is low on one cylinder, it will set the code. It has to do it multiple times in a certain amount of drive cycles to set it, so if it is setting the code, it has done it more than once. There are a lot of things that can cause it to set the code, from a bad plug wire/boot, to a burnt valve, bad injector, etc. I have a toyota land cruiser in the shop right now with the heads off of it for this code. It ran just fine, but when it idled, you could count the misfires on the scanner. It turned out that it had 7 valves that were not sealing good and causing it to loose compression. I would get it checked out, and make sure that they check it mechanically, and with a scanner to see what is going on.

I have thrown this code before and to be honest I was going to skip this thread till I noticed that you have a pulley. Have you gapped your plugs down (preferably colder ones) because that is what mine experianced as soon as the colder plugs that where gapped down where used code went away which leeds me to beleive we are experiancing some spark blowout...

I got this code when my boost 'reference' line, from the manifold, was falling off. Double check vacuum lines as well. Particuarly if this started AFTER the pulley install, and as Sinister said, check plugs and gaps.

Well, I'll admit that I haven't bothered with the plug gaps at all. But I checked with the g/f (it's her car, not mine) to confirm whether or not the pulley went on before or after the code was tripped.

This is not the first time this code was tripped....it has occured a couple times before....Before the pulley install.

But no matter what, should I put the stock pulley back on for a trip to the dealership? I dont own a pulley removal/install tool.

thanks,
sean

I'd leave it on, the tech at my dealer was suggesting different pulley swaps.... but that's not all of them... which pulley is it? I had to show him my SFPH one 3 times, before he realized it wasn't stock.

its the 3.0 SFPH.

she's in the process of having her friend's dad check into everything for her - before she goes over to the dealer. We'll see tonight whats up.
He thinks the mechanic may notice....but there's no telling one way or another if he will or not.
