Did you piss off any Al Quaeda types of late?

I get the noise even when I'm idle or at speed. I've heard some people have swapped out exhaust and the noise goes away. Maybe it has something to do with peoples' cats crapping out? Hmmmm?!?!?!

The cat is your catalytic converter. It breaks down half burnt gas in your exhaust to NO2, CO2, CO and SO2. Basically carbon chains (half burnt gas) are real bad for the enviorment and the 4 gases listed above are just sort of bad.

But you cat slows your car down, because it is a restriction in the exhaust that the engine has to push the gas through. That being said, if you take it out, there are a series of emmissions engine codes that will be set.

That popping noise was one of the first things that worried me about this car. I think it was probably in some of my early posts as well. But, I've decided that if it's gonna pop no matter how hard I drive the car, I may as well drive the crap outta it!!

When you first turn the key to ON, and don't start it, the fuel pump comes on for 3-5 seconds. That is to prime the system so that the car will start easier if it hasn't been run. If the car is cold and/or the temp is really cold, I will turn the car to ON, wait until i hear the buzzing sound come on and go back off before I start the car. It cranks a lot smoother.

It is probably peices of metal in your muffler starting to cool down. Same issue as the first poster. My header pings a lot when i just turn the car off.

Do you have a stock muffler? Because mine does it, and I have a dynomax super turbo
