idle??

so i have had my 04 RL for a little less than a week now, and im starting to notice a few things, and i was wondering if these are normal, or if i should get them checked out.

the one bothering me the most, is the idle... from inside the car it seems to be running smooth, but when you pop the hood it seems to me to idleing a bit rough, with a little bit of a rattle. I have seen others on here speak of a "can of marbles noise" ... is this the same noise, and is it normal, or should it seem to run smooth inside the engine compartmen as well?

also, yesterday i was sitting in a friends drive way reving the engine... not hard or anything, just trying to hear how the car sounds. then when i was driving away the car started to act crazy as fuck... it was bucking in first, and then in second it seemed like i had no power at all, almost as if it was only running on two cylinders or somthing. I pulled into a parking lot, turned the car off and poped the hood, but didnt find anything unusual(not exactly sure what i was looking for anyway). but when i started it back up and drove away, it was fine as if nothing had happend. This is kinda of alarming for a car to do that i just purchased last friday, and only has 20k miles on it... any ideas what might have caused this?

The car makes lots of noises. I wouldn't worry about it. From what I'm reading, it all seems normal to me.

The car acting crazy... hmmm... how hard is hard? It really seems to hate being revved in N.

tru, it didnt seem like the drivability was affected at all, and the engine deff smooths out when your on the gas... it just seems kinda odd for a basically "new" car to be that noisy under the hood, ya know.

not hard = 5k maybe 6k at the most, but not holding the throttle or anything, just reving up, and letting off. "hate being revved in N."... these things are good to know, anything else that is common for this car to hate?

The car makes noises from all over, and there's never a reason or cause to them. If you obsess over it like some of us have, you'll find that the blower is the cause for about 1/2 of it. It growls and 'wooshes' and whines, and rattles. This is normal though. It's a reason they didn't use them on production cars alot, the noises bother some people. They're not loud, but you can hear them just like you said. The other big one, is the tranny rattle. There is some complicated explanation for it, but long story short, the unused gears rattle a bit.

I, personally have never had an issue with revving it up a bit, but I really never rev it very high in N, it's not great for a motor anyway. I do know quite a few people that have had it stall on them after revving high in N, or hitting the limiter real hard, and then have it not want to start for a min. I'm not sure if it's a function of how the car limits revs, or if it's just a flaw in the method of fuel enrichment on decel, after a hard stab at the throttle with little load on the engine. Something like that maybe.

I've went across many a finish line bouncing off the limiter in 3rd gear, and never had an issue.

There have been reflashes and a cam sensor recall that affected both '04's and 05's, which can both cause these issues as well.

When you rev around 6400 or so, at least thats where mine does it, it will hit the limiter, it will sound like you are reving higher, although your RPM's will roughly stay the same. It becomes hard to shift (again, for me) once you hit the limiter. As far as I know, its not really a "bad" thing, but I wouldn't recomend purposly do it. I hope thats what you are talking about. . .If I am wrong, feel free to correct me guys. I just like to sound like I know what i'm talking about sometimes.

By the way, I noticed that you live in the Lake Mary/ Orlando area. If you want, me and a couple of the other guys are going to Gators Dockside on Red Bug Lake road on Monday night for all you can eat wings. You are more than welcome to join us.
