i do have on issue im trying to find out what it is.. when i goose it in low rpms the motor is shifting from the torque and im hearing a good clunk.. i think it just needs a torque brace though.. anyone else have this issue? |

I also like my Weapon-R intake. The only bad part about installation was removing the stock air box. I do not have the issue that Boosted has.
I did accidentally drive my car into a very deep puddle a few weeks ago. I must have submerged the intake in water because I got water in the intake. I am sure that it didn't help that I was still on the throttle when I hit the puddle and therefore still sucking air throught the intake. I could see the water in the oil. I immediately had the engine flushed and oil changed and I have had no problems since. Kinda common sense, stay away from deep puddles!!! Great product Last edited by alredline04; 11-27-2005 at 12:43 PM. |

I also have a Weapon-R Intake system. Purchased off Ebay and 100% satisified with it. Increase in low end torque and a huge sound increase from the SC. The sound alone was worth the $202. I agree the instructions suck, but it was managable. Very happy.

oh i had a possible fix for the water issue.. 2 options AEM has a air bypass valve i found on jegs.. it seperates water from air, but it said " not for forced induction cars" or there is k&n's drycharger which is a nylon/breathable water repellent cover. i think im gonna try the drycharger, i just need to find out what dimensions i need

I just installed mine 2 nights ago. No error messages yet! I notice an increase of power in 2nd and 3rd gear. Since I am here in Chiberia (Chicago) I did not remove the airbox. I do have pictures of it assembled right before we dropped it in though. I don't notice a difference in sound becuase I left the lower part of the airbox. As soon as spring hits, that box is GONE!

How did you connect the new hose?

I just left the weapon filter sitting inside the box without attaching the top lid to the box. When the lid was attached to the airbox it didn't line up. You would have to bend the S*&% out of it to make it work. As soon as spring hits and it isn't 20 freakin degrees out I am going to cut away the airbox. It would be way to big of a pain to remove the box (from what I've read from others)

What you need:; I just did this today, it took me 2 hours I had some trouble getting the airbox cover out and back in. Socket Set (SAE) Screwdrivers (flat head and phillips). Couple of decent cds Lot's of patience and small hands. Oh and DONT USE THE BIG CLAMPS FOR THE Smaller connections. First off: 1> Open the hood 2)Cover the edges of the hood on all sides with soft cloths or rags (I use cheesecloth); this is important! 3) grab that socket kit or the screwdrivers and locate teh clamps of the black pvc flexi intake hose. Take them off (attaches to the right side of the supercharger on the throttle body and goes down into the airbox (black box)). 4)After both clamps are loosened you now find it can slip off the throttlebody and airbox opening; detach the hose going to teh engine on the black flexi hose (just pull it off, it should come off pretty easy). 5)Pull black flexihose out; 6)you can now see into the airbox it should be orange white and mesh silver (through the top opening). 7)Locate the MAF sensor (it's connected to the top of the airbox; its the only thing connected to the airbox that's electrical. Now CAREFULLY detach this sensor from teh airbox top. 8)Locate the 3 screws in the airbox top (two you should see right away, the third is hidden UNDER the black hose on the right and is a pain to unscrew). 9)Unscrew those screws all the way (they'll stay in the cover); now the airbox top cover will pull up; however there's a hose in the way; you have to twist and lift the airbox cover up from the airbox bottom. This is one of the worst parts of installation because of the huge hose on teh right hand side; 10)Tops off, now pull the airfilter element in the box out (simple); and clean what's left of the airbox with a dry cloth. Now for the installation:The installation I did kept the bottom of the airbox intact in case you need to remove the weapon r intake in the future. 1)Oil the filter using the oil included and a paper towel (let dry 15 mins). 2) (put the clamps on before attaching or you'll need to loosen them all the way) Grab the 4" side rubber adapter attach this to the air filter with a big clamp, then attach the other end (3") to the down side of the airbox top (it will be a snug fit. Secure the filter to the airbox top with a small clamp. Tighten these as tight as possible. You don't need the bracket if you are not removing the airbox bottom and if you install it, it won't physically fit in teh airbox bottom so don't do it. 3)Now attach the 3" side rubber adapter to the top of the airbox top (the small side to the box) and tighten with a clamp. 4)Now the tricky part; you need to get that filter assembly (with the airbox top) back down into the airbox bottom. Twisting and pushing and moving things around (that damn thick hose again!) you should be able to get it in eventually (took me 20 mins alone). Now you will notice that the box doesn't fit exactly, but screw down what you can (I got 2 screws into their seats). 5)Resecure the MAF sensor to teh top of the box (IMPORTANT!) 5) Now seat the weapon r pipe onto the adapter on the top of the airbox adapter and clamp down. 6)Attach another 3"adapter to the throttle and clamp down and tight 7)Attach the throttle body adapter with the top of the weapon r pipe and clamp down. Every clamp should be as tight as possible (use a socket wrench). 8)Attach the rubber hose from the weapon r intake pipe to the original hose you detached from the original flexi hose intake. Everything is done, clean up and start that engine, if you clamped everything well you should have no problems. Last edited by zeebees; 01-05-2006 at 01:57 AM. |
