I received my H/E bracketrs today from bwoody. I wasn't to impressed. THere are no directions with the parts and the brackets feel flimsy. THey remind me of wall shelf hangers. THey cost $60 bucks and I don't think They shouldn't be selling them for more than $25 tops. I will give them this they have fast shipping. Overall not impresses. I hope when I order my motor mounts next month they are a little better. I give the product a 5 overall for the high price and weak feel of the brackets and not directions.

One tip with installation. Line up the mounts and heat exchanger before removing the bumper cover to make sure you have enough clearance. They say that removing the bumper is not necessary but it makes the job A LOT easier!!
I got right to work on my by taking off the bumper and getting everything mounted. Took about 30 minuets.. Then when it came time to put the bumper back on and.....I needed another 1/2 of clearance! So it took me an additional 45 mins to pull it off and redrill the holes and put everything back together. |

The holes in my brackets didn't really align very well at all to put the bolts through. I had to shave the 3m felt things down to get them to align a little better. I was dissapointed they didn't exactly line up out of the box. I had to install with 4 self tapping screws. I can hang off my heat exchanger while lying under the car so they are very durable. Good product if you don't have the time to make your own brackets or don't know how.

wow...search button is your friend.
BWoody Cobra Heat Exchanger Brackets Maybe it's not a FULL write-up, but a picture is worth 1,000 words, right? Seemed pretty straightforward to me, and others before you. Not TRYING to be a dick here, but before you go reviewing/bashing a product, maybe you should exhaust ALL avenues of assistance with your issue, huh? Mike's posted his # before for folks to call in a bind, not to mention going above and beyond when questions/issues are raised. As far as construction...how strong/sturdy do they need to be? The damn things hold the H/E WITHOUT vibrations/rattles...more than a few of us have scraped the damn thing on those stupid parking curb/blocks, and yet they're STILL there...doing what they were designed to do. I know - free country, and freedom of speech...but this review is NOT going to help anyone make a decision, one way or the other - b/c it makes you look lazy and cheap. just my .02 Last edited by mgm1979; 04-10-2007 at 07:13 PM. |

it was quite surprising because every other product I have purchased from Bwoody was very exact - so that is why I speculated that my HE was slightly fatter. mounting the unit to the aluminum bumper using bolts was a fucking pain-in-the-ass for me, ultimately got it done, but in retrospect I think I would use some sort of self-tapping screws instead. |

we have noticed variations in the cobra HE'S as well. no instructions were provided because everyone mounts their he his/her own way, yes i agree they are a pia too install. sure their flimsy before the install but once installed i can pick myself up off of the ground, if you think we charge too much for these i suggest making your own, they are a pain too make and i feel we don't charge enough, we only made these available because we were asked by the redline community to make a lightweight affordable alternative for those not wanting too make their own.
