Here it goes, The Saturn motorsports header is priced at $899. This may sound kinda high, however the quality matches its high dollar demand. Flanges at the head are 1/2" thick and the ports match the head but since the flanges are so thick it would be easy to port match the header after a port job on the head.
I installed two of these systems, one in my car the other in my wifes. Overall the installation is very easy and has some play in the flanges in order to find the sweet spot for the rest of the exhuast. The finish of the header is chrome and isnt the best job I've seen but from the top of the engine compartment looking down you cant see any of the flaws. In other words when people look in your engine compartment things look good.
The installation was done on my two post lift which I recomend but it is definately not required. One thing I did notice was that the hardware sent for the downpipe to the header was 3/8" and the holes are slotted and larger so I upgraded to 7/16" hardware once again I feel that its not required. I did use high temp rtv on the gaskets just for good measure. All in all the fitment is extremely good and is easy to install for the pieces.
The most difficult part of the installation is lenghthening of the pre cat o2 sensor wires. The kit included butt conectors, however I decided to solder them just for extra measure. This can be pretty difficult because there is very little slack in the wiring and is hard to manipulate into a comfortable position to do this task. Wes @ SMS is aware of this and is trying to source a premade pigtail to make it a plug and play.
Now to what most of you care about, the power. It does definatly FEELS like more power in both cars. It did take about three days for the ecu to adjust but it definately made a difference. The sound of the exhaust has definatly changed in both cars. My car has full 2 1/2" and a flowmaster muffler where as my wifes is stock. At first I thought it had a leak but I reracked my car on the lift and while it was running I checked all the joints and to my suprise no leaks. But I could hear in the downpipe where the cat begins it had a hollow sound that I was mistakeing for a leak. Idle and low rpm's are much lower in tone but step on the gas it has a loud bark.
