Well it's not for a ION Redline but it will work as a guidline for one. I bought Falken Ziex 512's in 195/60/14, 1 size wider for my wifes 93 Civic.

Well got them put on yesterday and they are a lot more quiet then the old worn out tires.

Comfort = 8 out of 10

Performance is where these tires lack. Im not sure of how they hold on a launch because im not going to do that to my wifes car but I can tell you....

The SIDEWALLS are very weak on these tires if you autocross or go on a road course or just like to take high speed turns I woudn't recommend these tires.

I have these on the RL and I agree with everything you said. I needed a better tire for the winter, but the Dunlops will go back on in a few months. The sidewalls defintely have more play in them, but the do grip very nicely. I think they might grip a little better than the dunlops on a straight launch.

Plus, couldnt beat the price, $73/tire for 215/45/17.

I think they may grip better on a launch because the sidewalls are so weak. I got mine for $35 a tire....can't beat 14" ones hehe. In going to get 225 for the RL whenever I get tires.

I have these on my RL as well. I like them so much better than the Dunlops. And they definitely grip better. Get my 2 Thumbs Up!

I have the same tires also, and the Dunlops whip up on em if there's no snow. These things have really good all-weather performance, but as stated, the sidewalls are terrible. I can feel them squish when i'm braking really hard... However, they are a really good compromise of performance and all-season traction...

I have the 17's on my ION sedan. I have 205 45 R17's and they are great. I love the grip and handling. Then again, the sidewall on those tires aren't as flexible as those on a 14" tire. Why would anyone review performance on a 14" tire. Doesn't seem feasible to me, but thats my opinion anyways.

Everyone seems to agree on my review even though it's a 14" tire. A tire is a tire if it is good on a 14" rim then it will be good on a 17" rim. These sidewalls are a lot more flexible then the 16" Firstone GTA-3 that were on my ION-3 I had.

Funny, I have an ION 3 as well, and in fact am using my stock firestones as we speak during the winter. These tires definitely have more sidewall flex than the Falken's do any day of the week.

No one is saying its a performance tire whatsoever, don't get me wrong, but two things.

A) The stock firestones get blown away by these tires...
B) 14" Tires often times can be a completely different animal than their bigger/ lower pro/ wider counterparts

You have to remember that the 14" is the inside radius of the tire. A 14" can have the same sidewall height as a 17" tire depending on the other numbers (I forget exactly what each one means). Anyways, the overall size of a tire and rim between a 14" and 17" may not be that different if the 17" are a lower profile than the 14". In that case, of course the 14" is going to have a more flexible sidewall, because it's larger than the sidewall of the 17". Honestly, you can't compare sidewall flexibility between two different sizes of tire.

You are talking about the same model of Falkens, right SD? I'm just making sure you're not talking about the Aziens or anything.
