I have changed out my winter tires for a mid-season radial until I can get my summer setup from out of state.
I found the cheapest 205-55-16 (winter wheels) V rated tires available (I know it sounds like trouble but it's not). I bought Hankook k106 radials which are v rated and actually have an aggressive channel and tread. They cost 90/per tire installed which is cheap here in new york city. On the net you can get them for about 60 per tire.
The next tire up was Hankook ventus z's for about 105 installed...but they have similar tread designs so I went with the cheaper tire.
Anyway these tires are VERY QUIET. They look a bit puffy but that's related to the tire/wheel size I'm using. They say they are "RADIALS" k106 radial (on the side) but they really aren't. They have the same v channel (water pusher) like the dunlop factories but deeper. The stability is somewhat less however that is related to wheel size as well...can be a bit bouncy.
Aside from that excellent response and a great deal to not have to drive on those snow tires anymore!
