I voted "yes", but I take that to mean from any source. I don't know if I'll be getting it through my Saturn dealership or direct from Quaife.

BTW, I heard a rumor that Saturn is delaying shipment of the competition package due to complications with the LSD. Can anyone confirm this, or have any details about it? Just curious, before I go puttin' my money down.

We have heard that there is a delay on the comp package, I wouldn't wanna say that it IS the LSD, since that part has been around for a while. One of our members has already had it installed into his Redline. The Quaife site has it listed for the Saab 93.

Thanks Sp00ner. I just did some searching in the performance mods forum and found CSCC 148's thread about his LSD. Sounds sweet! It's gonna be a little while until I'm ready to drop that kind of money on it, but I look forward to it.

Someone said in another other thread that the delayed production is due to the grinding transmission noise when the cars are warming up. They're trying to make a fix that helps keep parts in there lubricated so we don't here this anymore. I don't know the truth of this, it's just what someone said a little while back.

Another reason they might be delaying is low sales. They're not going to make any cars if there's no demand for them. It seems like enough people on here want them to start making them again, so I don't know how true this is either. Can anyone from Spring Hill confirm this? Have you guys stopped production on a lot of cars altogether for the time being?

With wanting to add the LSD onto the car you already have...my dealer has told me and partspec on here has confirmed that dealers don't have the kits to just put the LSD on the car. If you want it, you're gonna have to pay a buttload for them to take the time to do custom jobs on adding it. I'm not made of money...so this may have to wait for me...

Why didn't saturn release the LSD with RL to start off with? I can understand the first year RL not having it much like the first year SRT-4 but I figuered it would become standard.

I'm not sure either, maybe they didn't think the demographic that they were targeting would want the $1000 option as standard? They did offer it as an option for '05, like you already have heard I'm sure, but it was about 1/2 way through the year. It's pretty much gonna be on an '06 at this point. My guess is Daimler went through a similar decision tree- Let's see how many sell, then lets see who they sell to, the lets see what else to add as standard. Since the Cobalt has it as an option as well, and they're just starting to roll off the line, my bet is it has more to do with the logistics and assembly line than anything else.

I don't autoX this is my daily driver so I will like to know what will be the biggest difference that a LSD will do to my RL before I fork out thousands of dollars to get it on. By the way I had a 03 spec-v that came standard with helical LSD and you can tell some diference when driving hard or when taking a curve but in daily driving is not that much diferent than my 04 no-lsd RL. Will this improve straight line acceleration like 0-60, 1/4 mile?

Yes, it will improve your strait line acceleration to a degree. It will more dramtically affect the power output with the steering wheel turned. Rather than just spinning the inside tire, it puts power to both front wheels. THe difference between the RL and your Spec-V would be fairly dramatic, since the Spec-V hat a lot less wheel horsepower.
